Two matches in Colorado Springs to wrap up the road slate for 2022
FORT COLLINS, Colo.- Colorado State (4-4-6) hits the road one final time this regular season to take on in-state foes Air Force (4-7-2) and Colorado College (5-4-4).
ÂThe road trip comes on the heels of a tie and a shutout loss in Nevada last weekend. In their last match against Nevada, the Rams failed to score a goal in what was their most active game on offense of the 2022 campaign. The loss was the first for the Rams in conference play breaking a six match point streak.Â
"Every match is important. We talk about taking one match at a time and improving each day individually so we can help the team improve," said head coach Keeley Hagen, "we're looking forward to Thursday and continuing to do that. We are still in control of our destiny and it's one day at a time.
Colorado State will play a Falcons squad that sits in the bottom two of the conference. Both the Rams and the Falcons will be looking for their second win in conference play and fifth win overall.Â
The Rams will wrap up their road schedule with a match with the Tigers who currently sit in the top five in the conference standings.Â
ÂColorado State owns a 5-2-2 record over the Falcons, including a six match unbeaten streak in the series. The Tigers have had more success against the Rams in their eight years in the Mountain West conference, allowing just one win in their eight meetings.Â
ÂSenior Liv Layton added another two points to her season total with a goal last Thursday. That score moved Layton into sole possession of fifth most goals for a career. Layton has found the back of the net five times and added three assists in what has been a career year, which has moved her into tie for fourth most career points with her former teammate Taylor Steinke.Â
ÂThe Rams start their final road trip with the Falcons on Thursday at 6 p.m., before taking on the Tigers at 3 p.m., on Sunday.
