Eight players will say goodbye to Rams Soccer
Fort Collins, Colo.-Having experienced a challenging series of results down the stretch, Colorado State (4-6-8) will cap the season with an emotional sendoff for eight seniors who will be appearing in the green and gold for one final time Thursday when the Rams host rival Wyoming (5-3-2) at Ram Field.
Sunday's draw with Fresno State officially removed CSU from the running for postseason play, so the focus shifts to a positive finale for Taylor Bee, Kaitlyn Abrams, Aleyse Evers, Liv Layton, Kendra Gipson, Rachel Hall, Sarah Hogenkamp and Caroline Lucas, who will be honored prior to the match.
Â
ÂBee joined the Rams earlier this year after spending four seasons at Iowa State. She served as the voice on the field and the general of the defense that led the Rams six shutouts on the year.Â
ÂAbrams has been the true definition of Stalwart in her career at Colorado State. Abrams has been one of the most consistent players in the history of the program appearing in multiple games in each of her four seasons. Thursday's match will be Abrams 62nd match played as a Ram.Â
ÂEvers has proven to be stalwart in her own way, saving her best season for last. After sitting out her junior season due to injury, Evers has appeared in 18 matches with two starts in 2022. In her time at CSU Evers has also served as a handler for CSU's live mascot Cam the Ram.Â
ÂLayton is another four year player that has seen the field through two coaching staffs and a shortened pandemic season. Layton started 10 matches as a freshman and has appeared in 59 matches in her career as a Ram. This season, Layton jumped into the top five in career goals scored with nine. She also sits in fourth for most points in a season (15) and is tied for 3rd most goals in a season with six in 2022.Â
ÂGipson has been with the Rams since her freshman season in 2019. She has appeared in 56 matches in her four years with the team that also include a shortened seven match season during the pandemic. Kendra recorded her first goal as a Ram earlier this season in the shutout win over Southeast Missouri.Â
ÂHall joined the team in 2019 as a freshman and has appeared in 50 matches in her four seasons. Hall has continued to progress her offensive game putting up a career high in shots with six this season.Â
ÂAfter not playing in her freshman season, Hogenkamp started all seven matches during the shortened COVID season. Hogenkamp has played in 40 matches as a member of the Rams in just three seasons.Â
Lucas has been a recognizable face for Ram fans over the last four years, playing in 56 matches in her time with Colorado State. Lucas started nine matches as a freshman in what was the Rams best season in 2019.Â
ÂSenior recognition ceremony will take place 30 minutes prior to the start of the match on Thursday. The Rams will take on the Cowgirls at 3 p.m., on Thursday which can be streamed on the Mountain West Network and EvocaTV. Â
