Colorado State women’s golf enters the final round of the Rainbow Wahine Invite with the lead
KAPOLEI, Hawaii – Consistent, that's what Colorado State women's golf was during the second round of the Rainbow Wahine Invite on Tuesday to take sole possession of first place and lead by eight strokes into tomorrow's final round. While the Rams team score increased by 11 strokes from the first round, they posted just one double bogey or worse as a team. That helped CSU shoot the second-best round of the day at 5-over, 293.
Colorado State sits at a 1-under, 575 through 36 holes, the only team in the field under par.
Leading the charge for the Rams is senior Andrea Bergsdottir who followed up her opening round 69 with a 1-under, 71 Tuesday. She is tied for the lead on the individual leaderboard with Gonzaga's Cassie Kim at 4-under. Bergsdottir was even through nine with back-to-back birdies on the third and fourth hole and back-to-back bogies on holes six and seven. She hopped aboard the par train with nine straight pars before recording another birdie on 17.
Just two strokes behind Bergsdottir is Sofia Torres. Torres is in third place by herself after recording a 1-over, 73 Tuesday.
Two other Rams are in the top 20 in Pemika and Panchalika Arphamongkol. The sisters sit at 3 and 4-over par for the tournament for a tie for 11th and 17th, respectively.
Native Hawaiian Lacey Uchida responded after a tough opening round with a 75 on Tuesday, factoring into the team scoring.
CSU aims for its first team title since the 2018 Ron Moore Women's Intercollegiate. Wednesday's final round tees off at 9 am HT/1 pm MT with the Rams starting on holes 1-5. Live results can be found on GolfStat.
