What You Need to Know
- The Rams are coming off a 1-1 weekend as they start to get back on track in conference play after dropping three straight matches earlier this month. Colorado State fell to New Mexico in three on Thursday before beating Air Force 3-1 on Saturday.
- Colorado State fans helped celebrate both senior Jacqi Van Liefde and head coach Tom Hilbert last Saturday as the Rams' matchup with Air Force served as both of their final regular season home game in Moby Arena. While Van Liefde will play and Hilbert will coach in Moby Arena again as the Rams host the Mountain West Tournament next week, over 2,800 Ram fans came out last Saturday to show their love and support for the lone senior and the 26-year head coach.
- The Rams currently sit tied for third in the Mountain West standings with Utah State. While they have officially clinched a spot in the tournament, who they will play in the opening round is still up in the air and dependent on how the remaining games across the tournament fall this week.
Series History
- Last time out against the Cowgirls, Colorado State won the match by a score of 3-1. Kennedy Stanford, Annie Sullivan and Malaya Jones all totaled double-digit kills as the Rams hit .415 as a team compared to Wyoming's .240. After dropping the second set to the Cowgirls, Colorado State responded with a 25-7 third set victory, its largest set win-margin of the season. Wyoming is currently on a five-game losing streak.
- The Rams started their first week of conference play this season against the Rebels and will now end their final week of conference play in Las Vegas Saturday afternoon. In their matchup earlier this year, the Rams swept UNLV at Moby Arena. This remains UNLV's only conference loss so far this season as the Rebels are currently on a 15 game winning streak. The Rams were victorious their first time out against the Rebels thanks to good defense and the capitalization of 28 UNLV hitting errors.
