Men’s Hoops Hits the Road for Challenging Road Trip

The Rams face a tough challenge on Sunday traveling to Saint Mary’s
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – As finals hit the rearview mirror for Colorado State men's basketball, they now turn their focus to a tough task in Saint Mary's on Sunday. Opportunity waits for the Rams in their final two non-conference games against the Gales and then USC next Wednesday.

Opening Tip
- Colorado State returned to the win column with a big offensive day in a 115-72 victory over Peru State last Sunday.
- The Rams rewrote the record book in their win with a program record 35 assists, the second-best field goal percentage (69.8%), third-most points scored (115), tied for the third-most field goals made (44), and tied for the seventh most 3-point field goals (15).
- Isaiah Stevens recorded the sixth double-double of his career and first of the season with 24 points and 10 assists. He ties Ryan Yoder for the most points and assists double-doubles in program history.
- Senior John Tonje played in the 100th game of his career on Sunday and put up a big performance. He scored 19 points with 15 of them coming from behind the arc as he was a perfect 5-for-5.
- For the second time this year six Rams finished the game with double figures scoring.

- Colorado State looks to pick up its 30th non-conference win in four years on Sunday.
- CSU finished its home non-conference schedule at 6-1 and has an overall 41-7 record in home games for the past four seasons.
- Saint Mary's has become very familiar with the Mountain West as CSU represents their third MW foe of four this season. They are 1-1 against the Mountain West with a win over San Diego State and loss to New Mexico.
- Saint Mary's picked up their ninth win of the season with an 81-68 decision over New Mexico State.

Scouting the Gales
Head coach Randy Bennett has one of the best defensive teams in the nation with this year's version of the Saint Mary's Gales. Entering Sunday they have allowed just 57.3 points per game to rank 10th in the nation. A key to their success is holding teams to 38.8% shooting.
On the year, they have had just one opponent reach 70 points and held teams under 60 points six times, three times under 50.
Offensively, Saint Mary's has four guys averaging double figures scoring. Aidan Mahaney leads the group with 13.7 points per game while Alex Ducas (13.6), Mitchell Saxen (12.9) and Logan Johnson (10.5) join him. Ducas and Johnson were on the preseason All-WCC team.
The Gales were picked to finish second in the WCC this season.

Colorado State closes out the non-conference season by participating in the Jerry Collangilo Classic in Phoenix on Wednesday. The Rams with face their second USC of the season, this time Southern California at 9 pm inside the Footprint Center.
