CSU Drops 72-51 Contest At UNLV

LAS VEGAS, Nev.  –  Playing its fifth game in five different cities over 12 days, Colorado State couldn't find the rhythm on offense and fell 72-51 at UNLV Saturday evening. The loss snapping their five-game win streak, the Rams fell to 21-4 overall and 11-4 in the Mountain West, while the Runnin' Rebels improved to 16-11 and 8-6 in the league.
 
The game was tight in the early going with the two teams tied at 10 before UNLV took the lead with a 7-0 run. The Rams answered with five straight, but the hosts controlled the rest of the opening 20 minutes, pushed the lead to as much as 35-21 and led 35-24 at the intermission. UNLV came out and scored the first five points of the second half and extended the lead steadily the rest of the way.
 
Colorado State struggled offensively, shooting just 33.3 percent (18-of-52) from the field, including 22.7 percent (5-of-22) from the arc. UNLV was 45.1 percent (23-of-51) from the floor with 37.5 percent (9-of-24) on threes.
 
The Rams had only six players in the score column and were led by junior guard Isaiah Stevens with 14 points while junior forward David Roddy was limited to 11. UNLV had a pair in double figures, led by Bryce Hamilton's 20 points.
 
STAT OF THE GAME
• The boards were controlled by UNLV, 45-24, including 13 offensive rebounds.
 
NOTES
• UNLV holds a significant 43-19 advantage overall and 25-5 in Las Vegas.
• Overall CSU is 9-10 since February 2012 against UNLV.
• The 51 points are the second lowest this season for CSU.

• The Rams will return home for its biggest rivalry, hosting Wyoming for the annual White Out game on Wed., Feb. 23 at 7 p.m.
