Last Time Out:
Colorado State fought the conditions but were unable to move up in the final round and finished 14th at the 2022 Chambers Bay Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole tournament, co-hosted by Seattle University and the University of Washington, was played at Chambers Bay Golf Course (Par 72 – 6,046 yards) in University Place, Wash.
In chilly and windy conditions for the second day, CSU shot a 33-over 321 in the last round to finish at 82-over 946. On a day where no team cracked 300 in the scoring, UCLA won the tournament at 12-over 876, defeating runner-up Washington at 30-over 894 by 18 shots. Pepperdine finished third at 31-over 895, with Denver in fourth at 33-over 897. Fresno State rounded out the top five teams at 51-over 915.
"This was quite a tough week for everyone in the field," head coach Laura Cilek said. "Chambers Bay is an amazing golf course, but the conditions were brutal this week. We saw wind, snow, rain, and sleet throughout our 36 holes on Monday and final 18 Tuesday. I thought our players did a good job trying to learn what they could from playing in those conditions. We are looking forward to getting to Mission Hills for our conference championship next week!"
The Rams were paced by junior Andrea Bergsdottir, who tied for 34th at 17-over 233. Freshman Pemika Arphamongkol was next at 21-over 237 in a tie for 52nd. Sophomore Sofia Torres tied for 72nd at 25-over 241, while junior Tomine Bjerkelo and freshman Lacey Uchida tied for 81st at 27-over 243. Playing as an individual, sophomore Panchalika Arphamongkol tied for 52nd at 21-over 237. UCLA's Emma Spitz won medalist honors at 1-under 215, two shots ahead of teammate Emilie Paltrinieri and Washington's Camille Boyd at 1-over 217.
