Matsubara Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Sophomore infielder Maya Matsubara was named to the first-team Academic All-District from CoSIDA, the association announced Thursday. Matsubara will be eligible to become an Academic All-American, which will be announced in June.

Matsubara holds a 4.0 GPA while majoring in anatomy and physiology. While on the field, she has appeared in 28 games, starting 21 of them mostly at shortstop. She is batting .268 and carries a .373 on-base mark, while drawing 10 walks.

About the CoSIDA Academic All-District Awards Program
Academic All-District teams are selected by CoSIDA and recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in academics and athletics. The CoSIDA Academic All-District teams include the student-athletes listed in the links above and are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada.

The CoSIDA Academic All-America program separately recognizes honorees in five divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA and College.

The NCAA Divisions II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with the awards fulfillment aspects for the Divisions II and III Academic All-America programs. The NAIA CoSIDA Academic All-America program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
