Three goals in the opening 20 minutes was enough for the Wildcats on Thursday
MANHATTAN, KS - Thursday night was a tough one on the road for the Rams as they fell to Kansas State 3-0. Colorado State suffers its third loss of the season after being peppered with shots throughout the entirety of the match.
The Wildcats notched their first shot in the 13th minute and continued to send shots towards Emilie Gavillet for the remaining 67 minutes. It took only three shots for the Wildcats to get on the board when Kyler Goins sent one past Gavillet in the 17th minute. Kansas State was quick to find the back of the net again less than three minutes later and put their third and final one through just 32 seconds later.
The Rams defense buckled down to stop the bleeding behind five saves from Gavillet, but the early deficit proved to be too much for the Rams. The struggle did not stop on the defensive side of the pitch for the Rams. Offensively the Rams were only able to muster four total shots, none of them able to truly test the K-State goaltender, Alaina Werremeyer.
A slow start on both ends of the field led to the Rams being shut out for the third time this season, and their second multi-goal loss of the 2022 campaign.
The Rams do, however, have a quick turnaround as they head to Kansas City Missouri to take on the Roos from the University of Missouri-Kansas City on Sunday at 12 p.m, MST.
