Opening Tip
- Colorado State played an overtime game for the third straight time falling to San Diego State 82-76 inside Moby Arena
- Wednesday's game was CSU's first time playing in three straight overtime games since the 2003-04 season. They won all three against San Diego State, UNLV and Wyoming.
- Isaiah Stevens recorded his third double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 assists.
- Stevens is closing in on the program's assists record with 529, one away from matching Ryan Yoder's mark of 530.
- He is also three points away from moving into fourth place in program history in scoring. He enters Saturday with 1,551 points, about to pass Rich Strong (1982-86).
- Jalen Lake led the Rams with a career-high 17 points. He connected on five 3s and shot 6-of-8 from the field overall. He added three assists as well.
- A total of five Rams reached double figures in the loss. Lake and Stevens led the way with Isaiah Rivera (14), John Tonje (13) and Patrick Cartier (12) joining them.
- Patrick Cartier is 10th in the nation shooting 65.6% from the field. The mark leads the Mountain West.
- Saturday's game will be broadcast by CSU alum Jenny Cavnar and the first time in program history that it is an all-female broadcast team with Katy Winge as the analyst.
- Wyoming is still seeking its first conference win of the season and on an eight-game losing streak after falling to Air Force 82-74 on Tuesday.
- The Rams and Cowboys split the Border War last year each defending their own home courts.
Â
Scouting the Cowboys
It has not been the year third-year head coach Jeff Linder and his Wyoming Cowboys were expecting coming into 2022-23. Picked to finish second in the league, Wyoming lost All-Mountain West player Graham Ike to a foot injury. He has still not played in a game this season.
Â
The Cowboys enter Saturday still looking for their first Mountain West game of the season and to snap an eight-game losing streak.
Â
The duo of Noah Reynolds and Hunter Maldonado lead the way for Wyoming averaging 15.0 and 13.4 points, respectively.
Â
A staple of Linder's teams over his career is the ability to make the three-ball, which is down this year for Wyoming, averaging 8.6 a game and shooting 35.2% from behind the arc.
Â
What's Ahead
After opening Mountain West eight straight games the Rams will enjoy a week off before playing Boise State on Saturday, January 28 in Boise.
