Team finishes out at San Diego State Fall Classic No. 2
FORT COLLINS – A trip to warm weather will conclude the fall for Colorado State's women's tennis team as the Rams head to San Diego State for the Fall Classic No. 2, beginning Friday.
Â
Each day will feature matches in singles and doubles for every player as there will be eight-spot flights for each with eight teams in attendance. Colorado State will see some familiar faces – Colorado and Boise State among them – as well as some new teams, including Oregon and San Diego.
Â
"I am looking for our team to finish on a high note by competing well, improving on their mental skills and finding ways to win when not playing their best," CSU coach Mai-Ly Tran said. "I've seen growth in many players individually and collectively as a team. They've been playing well at practice, they are physically fitter and more bonded as a team."
Â
Tennis last performed two weeks ago at the ITA Mountain Regional, with the doubles team of Radka Buzkova and Victoria Erechtchenko reaching the semifinals. Together, they have posted an 8-3 mark, facing tough competition at a few levels of the ITA All-American Championships. Buzkova has notched an 11-4 doubles record this season with two partners, vaulting her into the program's top 10 for career doubles victories by a player, now sitting No. 8 with 50.
Â
For Tran, the fall always represents a chance to prepare for the spring dual season, which begins Jan. 20 at home against North Dakota.
Â
"Fall is always a challenging season, and our team has found ways to overcome many mental and physical tests this year that will prepare them for our spring season," she said.Â
