Rams Head to Wyoming for Big Stage

Colorado State will play at Wyoming for the Border War 2.0 on Saturday night and will be televised by FS1

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Saturday night in the Double A in Laramie, Wyo., is expected to be another battle as Border War 2.0 will be televised on national TV by FS1 at 7:30 p.m. Colorado State earned the victory in the first meeting earlier this season in Moby Arena after Cailyn Crocker hit a last-second 3-pointer to give the Rams the lead. The Border War will also have pivotal implications in the Mountain West standings and in turn the Mountain West Tournament for seeding as there is a log jam for second and third place.

Tip Off
After the mid-week bye, Colorado State will face Wyoming in the second edition of the Border War on Saturday night in Laramie. The game will be nationally televised on FS1 at 7:30 p.m.
 
Recapping Last Week
CSU had another split week last week, suffering a loss at San Diego State on Thursday before traveling home for a victory against Air Force on Saturday. The Rams were led by McKenna Hofschild who averaged 22 points during the week and dished out 6.5 assists.
 
Border War Battles
Both programs will tell you that the Border War is an all out gritty, tough, competitive game every time. The numbers don't lie either. In 106 games, the scoring margin is one single point in favor of Colorado State - averages 64-63. There has been 27 games where the score is within five points, including the Border War 1.0 earlier this season. Under Coach Williams, he holds a five-point winning margin in his 26 games against the Cowgirls.
 
Chasing History
McKenna Hofschild is chasing Stalwart company. The senior has dished out 526 assists while at Colorado State. The guard is one-of-three in program history, to record 1,000 points and 400 assists, joining Ellen Nystrom and Becky Hammon. Hofschild is No. 3 in career assists behind Becky Hammon at 538.
 
Against The Home State
Head Coach Ryun Williams grew up in Gillette, Wyo., about 300 miles North of Laramie. Williams is 15-11 against the home state since starting at Colorado State in 2012.
 
Wyoming Series History
In one of the longest running series in program history, Colorado State and Wyoming will meet for the 108th Border War, which dates back to the start of the program in 1975. The Rams hold a 56-51 overall mark in the series, but trail 20-27 while playing in the Double A, including a 5-15 mark in the last 20 games played in Laramie.
 
Last Time Against Wyoming
Colorado State earned a hard-fought victory earlier this season against the Cowgirls in Moby Arena, 66-63, after a final 3-pointer by Cailyn Crocker. McKenna Hofschild led all scorers with 25 points and nine assists. Kendyll Kinzer also reached double figures with 17 points and Crocker added 12 - including the game winner.
