CSU men’s basketball heads to San Jose State for its final road trip of the season

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – CSU men's basketball heads back to California for their final road trip of the season carrying momentum with them from Friday's Orange Out win over rival Wyoming. The Rams take on San Jose State at 9 pm MT on CBS Sports Network and over the airwaves of K99.1.

Opening Tip
- Colorado State picked up an Orange Out win over rival Wyoming last Friday 84-71. It was CSU's 100th win in the series and the 90th win for Niko Medved at CSU.
- The senior duo of John Tonje and Isaiah Stevens continues to pace the Rams combining for 40 points in the win.
- Tonje and Stevens have combined for 219 points in the past six games. That accounts for 51.2% of the team's scoring in that time frame.
- Tonje led the team matching his season-high with 25 points and six rebounds. Meanwhile, Stevens had his sixth double-double of the year with 15 points and career and program-matching-high 12 assists. He did so while not recording a turnover.
- The double-double was the 10th points, assists double-double of Stevens's career.
- Stevens leads the Mountain West in assists (6.7) and assists-to-turnover ratio (3.34) to rank fifth and third in the nation, respectively. He is also 59th in the nation and third in the conference for scoring with 18.3 points per game.
- James Moors came up big off the bench for the Rams scoring 16 points. He was an impressive 8-for-9 from the free throw line.
- CSU shot 90.5% from the charity stripe on Friday going 19-for-21.
- Colorado State ranks in the top 15 nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.54, 12th), assists (17.0, 11th), effective field goal percentage (56.4%, 8th) and field goal percentage (49.4%, 6th).
- San Jose State is coached by former CSU coach Tim Miles. Miles spent five years in Fort Collins going 71-88.
- SJSU picked up their first-ever win in the series earlier this year 78-70 in Moby Arena.

Scouting the Spartans
The work that head coach Tim Miles has done in his second year at San Jose State has been impressive. Taking a typically down program and putting them into a fight for a bye in next week's Mountain West Tournament.

The Spartans' go-to man is Omari Moore. The senior is averaging 17.1 points, 4.8 assists and 4.6 rebounds, leading the team in the first two categories. He is coming off being named the Mountain West Player of the Week where he Averaged 18.5 points, 4.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds as his team picked up an upset win over Boise State.

SJSU likes to clean the glass averaging 38.1 rebounds a game. That puts them atop the conference for the category and 32nd in the NCAA.

With two wins this week, the Spartans clinch their first-ever bye in the Mountain West Tournament.

What's Ahead
It will be Senior Night as the Rams close out their regular season schedule against New Mexico Friday night.

CSU will celebrate Isaiah Stevens, John Tonje, James Moors and Nick Bassett prior to the 9 pm tip.
