Colorado State set to play first series at new Ram Field complex
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – After four weekends on the road to begin its season, the Colorado State softball team will begin Mountain West play with its home opener at the newly renovated Ram Field March 17 versus San Diego State.

Fans can tune into this weekend's games in person with free admission to Ram Field for all three games.

What You Need to Know:
- The Rams will play a three-game series against the Aztecs with games scheduled for 4 p.m. Friday, 1 p.m. Saturday and 12 p.m. Sunday. This weekend will be Colorado State's first three game series of the season.
- Colorado State's home field has been under renovation since August as Ram Field has been new and improved over the winter months with a new stadium concourse, improved fan setting, new team dugouts and netting throughout the complex.
- While Friday will serve as Colorado State's home opener, the grand opening of the new facility is schedules for Saturday, April 1 as the Rams host UNLV.
Scouting the Aztecs:
- The defending Mountain West Champions enter the conference season as the pre-season number two team in the conference.
- The Aztecs travel to Fort Collins with a 15-7 record averaging just over four runs a game while giving up between 2-3 runs on average to opponents. With five hitters hitting over .300 and all five pitchers with under a 3.00 ERA, San Diego State boasts a lot of depth within its lineup.
- The Rams are 40-69 all time versus the Aztecs and 25-32 at home.

- Last weekend, the Rams traveled to the GCU Invitational where they finished 4-1 claiming three wins over Abilene Christian while splitting their two games with GCU.
- Molly Gates led the way offensively for the Rams as the junior hit .476 on the weekend going 10-21 totaling two doubles and two RBIs while scoring seven runs. Gates sits tied for first in team batting average at .400 on the season.
- Junior Ashley York also had a breakout weekend going 8-18 (.444) with a home run and six RBIs.
- Outfielder Hailey Smith continues to lead the Rams in RBIs on the season as the junior ended the GCU Invitational with a team high eight RBIs.
- Sydney Hornbuckle dominated in the circle for the Rams as the junior finished the weekend 2-0 with a 2.47 ERA. Hornbuckle and teammate Danielle Serna continue to be a powerful one-two punch for Colorado State as Serna notched two saves at the GCU Invitational to match Hornbuckle's win count.
