Rams Host Doubleheader Before Traveling to New Mexico

Colorado State to take on Utah State and New Mexico in four-game week
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State softball team will play four games during week five of the Mountain West season as the Rams will host Utah State Wednesday afternoon for a doubleheader at Ram Field before making the trip to New Mexico to play both Saturday and Sunday.

- Wednesday's doubleheader at Ram Field will kick off at 12 p.m. with the second game set to begin at approximately 3 p.m.
- Saturday's game in Albuquerque is set for a 2 p.m. first pitch while Sunday's game will start at noon.
- The Rams enter the week with a 5-6 conference record, good for fifth in the conference, as the second half of the Mountain West schedule means crunch time in terms of qualifying for the first Mountain West Softball Conference Tournament in 17 years. Only the top six teams in the conference will qualify for the postseason tournament hosted by San Diego State May 11-13.
Scouting the Aggies and Lobos:
- Sitting as the No. 6 team in the Mountain West currently, the Utah State Aggies make the trip to Fort Collins with a 4-5 conference record and 12-17 overall record. They sit last in the Mountain West in team batting average, but fourth in team ERA.
- The Lobos host the Rams with a 3-9 conference record, currently last in the Mountain West, and a 16-24 overall record. New Mexico boasts a top four team batting average within the conference but ranks second to last in team ERA.
- All time, Colorado State trails Utah State with a matchup record of 26-40 and 13-15 at home. The Rams hold the all-time advantage over New Mexico with a 72-58 record and 32-31 record when playing in Albuquerque.
Game Notes:
- Last time out, the Rams went 1-2 in their series at San Jose State. Highlight performers include Peyton Allen, Ashley York and Julia Cabral.
- Allen finished the road trip to San Jose hitting .455 (5-11) on the weekend including a home run, a double and five RBI. Slugging at a .818 rate on the weekend, she also scored three runs.
- York also hit 5-11 (.455) on the series with five singles. She scored two runs hitting in the three-spot of the line up while also swiping a base.
- Cabral made her fourth start of the season in Colorado State's Friday night win as the senior continues to work her way back into the pitching rotation after being injured for the majority of the season so far. The right-handed pitcher went four innings giving up one earned run and only allowing two hits for her best performance so far this season.
