What You Need to Know
- The travel week for the Rams starts first with a road trip to in-state rival Northern Colorado to play the Bears Tuesday night in Greeley before traveling to Arkansas to play the No. 25 Razorback and the Michigan Wolverines in Fayetteville. Rounding out the week, the Rams will play Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas before returning to Fort Collins.
- With three road games and a neutral site game on the slate for Colorado State, the Rams will be tested for the first time this year outside of Moby Arena.
- Both Northern Colorado and Arkansas were NCAA Tournament qualifiers last season with the Rams seeking a revenge week after falling to each team during the 2022 campaign as well.
Scouting the Week
- The Bears started their 2023 season with the same opponents as the Rams, trading off nights versus No. 10 Kentucky and No. 3 Stanford. Falling to both teams, Northern Colorado was swept by Stanford and fell 3-1 to Kentucky. Tuesday's game in Greeley will be the Bears' annual 'Blue Out the Bank' and will serve as the first true away game of the season for the Rams with a hostile in-state crowd.
- Arkansas is another familiar opponent from last year as Colorado State hosted the Razorbacks during 2022 where they were swept at home in Moby Arena, 3-0. The No. 25 team in the nation returns six of their seven main starters from last year as the Razorbacks opened up their season 2-0 with wins over Michigan State and Tulsa.
- Michigan started its season 1-1 with a win over Sacred Heart and a loss to Boston College and the Wolverines will be the fourth Power Five conference school, coming out of the competitive Big Ten, the Rams face in this early season. Saturday's match against Michigan will be Colorado State's first neutral site match of the year.
- Central Arkansas started its season with four games during opening week going 1-3 with a win over Illinois State and losses to Colgate, Michigan State and Missouri. The Sugar Bears will have another four game week during week two as they host Jackson State, Southeastern and Little Rock before facing the Rams Sunday.
