Colorado State will face off against Boise State and Utah State
FORT COLLINS- Colorado State (6-2-2) will take its first whack at a conference road schedule this week when the Rams take on Utah State (4-6-1) on Thursday at 5 p.m., and Boise State (3-1-6) on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Rams are coming off their first week of conference play unbeaten following a 2-1 win over Nevada on Thursday and 1-all tie with UNLV on Sunday. The Rams are one of five teams leading the conference with a 1-0-1 record after the first week.Â
"Coming out of our first conference weekend it's never a dull moment. Every game we learn a little bit more about ourselves and what we can improve," said head coach Keeley Hagen, "each opponent is guaranteed to be a challenge! We are looking forward to the upcoming road challenge and how the team will respond!"
Utah State holds a 1-1-0 record in conference, coming off a 2-1 win against Colorado College on Sunday. The Aggies finalized their nonconference slate with a shutout win against No. 1 BYU earlier this month. The Rams hold a 4-7-1 record against the Aggies, including a 1-4 record in Logan.
The Broncos also faced off against BYU during their nonconference slate suffering a 4-1 loss in the third match of the season. Boise State is one of the other four teams with a 1-0-1 record in the conference, coming off a win against Colorado College and a tie against Air Force. Colorado State has never won a match against the Broncos, boasting a 0-6-3 record all-time.
The Rams are tied for third in the conference with the Broncos in goals, each netting 14. The Aggies rank in the bottom third of the conference with 10. However, the Rams are second best in the conference in goals allowed with eight allowed in 10 matches. The squad leads the conference in shutouts with four.
Sophomore forward Olivia Fout scored her seventh goal of the campaign on Sunday, giving her sole possession of the lead for the Golden Boot in the conference. Her seven goals are tied for second most in a single season by a Ram with Kristen Noonan in 2021.Â
Junior Avery Vander Ven has led the Rams backline defensively while adding four assists on the other end, enough for second most in the conference.Â
