Conference Unbeaten Streak Continues

Rams begin their week with a win

LAS VEGAS – Ties are never a good thing, even if they help extend an unbeaten streak. Colorado State's women's soccer team found it's elixir Thursday night in a 2-1 road victory over UNLV.

Despite a slow start to the match, the Rams prevailed and broke a streak of two consecutive ties in Mountain West play, doing so against the Rebels, who stood third in the standings entering the evening. The Rams dominated their opponent both offensively and defensively after they found their groove in the 15th minute of the match.

Colorado State ran its unbeaten run to eight straight.

The Rams (9-3-3, 5-0-2 MW) were able to find the back of the net first in the 24th minute with Olivia Fout hitting the lower right corner off a perfect corner direct feed from Mia Casey, marking her sixth assist of the season. Fout's goal -- although she isn't a new name to score with her 12 goals from the 2023 season -- marks the 11th different Ram to score this season. They were able to go into half with the lead.

With Colorado State starting the second half with the momentum behind them, the Rebels came back for revenge maintaining a high pressure. In doing so, Whitley Cadence found the equalizer after a battle on the backline in the 62nd minute.

The Rams were able to outshoot their opponent with a total of 18 shots on the night, with seven of those on goal. They had a night full of opportunities, and they were able to pass the equalizer in the 71st minute with the goal to win the game. Kaja Dionne had a battle at midfield where she was able to keep the ball, giving Mia Casey a perfect feed for the sophomore to find the upper left corner, securing her fourth goal of the season. Casey's three points on the night give her 14 on the season, tied for fourth in program history.

With the success on the forefront of the field, goalkeeper Libby Brooker was able to lead the team to success again, securing one save.

Colorado State will take their unbeaten run into their next match on Sunday against Nevada.
