Jailey Wilson Named Mountain West Freshman of the Week

Colorado State wins first weekly award of the season

FORT COLLINS – First baseman Jailey Wilson was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week after helping the Rams to a 4-1 weekend at the Torero Classic last weekend the league office announced Monday.

Wilson finished the weekend hitting .571 with four hits, three of them being extra base hits. The freshman hit two home runs in back-to-back at bats against Eastern Illinois, the first one being to tie the game and the second being to take the lead over the Panthers.

Her other extra base hit was a double to spark the Ram offense to a comeback win against San Diego Sunday afternoon. Overall, she hit a slugging percentage of 1.571 on the weekend with three RBI and three runs scored. She also added eight putouts at first base. This is Wilson's first weekly award of her career.

Colorado State will next compete at the Lone Star State Invitational February 23-25 where they will face No. 3 Texas, No. 9 Stanford and No. 23 Louisiana.
