Rams Set to Host Pair Outdoors

Sunday is Faculty Appreciation Day vs. Colorado
FORT COLLINS – A chance to play outdoors this time of year is a major bonus. The competition isn't a bad draw, either.
Â
Colorado State's women's tennis team will look to bounce back from a tough road trip, hosting Northern Arizona and Colorado this Saturday and Sunday at the CSU Tennis Complex. The Rams will host the Lumberjacks at 1 p.m.; they will face the Buffaloes at 12 p.m. The will be a live stream and live scoring available for both matches.
Â
"We are transitioning to outdoor tennis and that's always a great time. Â It brings different elements into the matches that make the matches more interesting," CSU coach Mai-Ly Tran said. "We like the physicality and different tactics it requires, and it will prepare us for upcoming outdoor matches on the schedule."
Â
Northern Arizona enters the match 1-2 on the season, having lost to a pair of Mountain West foes – Wyoming and New Mexico – by matching 4-3 scores. The Lumberjacks lead the overall series 6-3.
Â
Sunday's match is set as Faculty Appreciation Day, a way for the team to highlight and honor the work done by campus educators. Facing in-state foe Colorado highlights the day even further. The Buffs lead the overall series 33-1, but the one for the Rams (3-3) came just two seasons ago as they toppled Colorado at home.
Â
"We faced both of these teams in the past couple of years. Â They were battles, and we know what to expect," Tran said. "We are making sure we focus on how we would like to play in matches and continue to practice that during training. Â It's always fun after competitive matches to see what we need to work on and to see what it will take to beat certain teams. It helps us elevate our game and level."
