Michaela Hawkins Named Mountain West Women’s Field Athlete of the Week

Rams land another weekly award after performance at Trojan Invitational
FORT COLLINS – Senior thrower Michaela Hawkins was named the Mountain West Women's Field Athlete of the Week after her nation-leading performance in the women's discus at the Trojan Invitational last weekend.
Hawkins threw a mark of 61.02 meters in the women's discus which is the second-best women's discus mark in school history, best in NCAA so far this season and sits above the Olympic trials qualifier mark. She won the event at the Trojan Invitational hosted by USC this past weekend.
She also placed second in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 59.80 meters during the outdoor opening meet. This mark is also a personal best mark for Hawkins.
Hawkins and the Rams will return home for their first of two home meets, this weekend hosting the Jack Christiansen Invitational. Events will begin Friday at noon and Saturday at 9:55 a.m.
