RAM TALK
  • The Week That Was: It was a big week for the Rams as CSU went 2-0, taking down conference foes Boise State and Wyoming. In the home game against the Broncos, Colorado State had five players reach double-figures in a 79-70 victory. The Rams kept the momentum rolling into the rivalry game against the Cowgirls, forcing 12 steals and only committing three turnovers in a gritty 61-56 road win.
  • Fight Like A Ram: Colorado State is hosting the sixth-annual Fight Like A Ram game against Air Force this Saturday, a tradition which has become beloved by the northern Colorado community. CSU partners with UCHealth to honor cancer warriors from the local area, and players exchange their names on the backs of their jerseys for those of their cancer warriors for a day that is truly bigger than basketball. In the words of head coach Ryun Williams, the Fight Like A Ram game is "Our best thing we do here at Colorado State... If there's ever going to be a sellout, it should be that game every single year."
  • Protect The Rock: The Rams do a lot of good things, but one of their secrets to success is actually something they DON'T do: Turn the ball over. The Rams have led the nation in fewest turnovers per game in each of the last two seasons, coughing it up only 9.1 times per game in 2023-24. Despite the new-look roster, that trait has passed down to this year's squad as the Rams are giving up an average of just 9.2 turnovers, which is top of the country once again. The Green and Gold are one of just two teams in Division I to average less than 10 turnovers per game (Minnesota) and have three games this season with less than five turnovers.
  • Game Breaker: Emma Ronsiek has been one of the most well-rounded players in the country this season with her ability to impact the game in multiple ways. Ronsiek is one of only 15 players nationally to average 19.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists against Division 1 opponents this season, joining the likes of women's basketball stars JuJu Watkins (Southern California), Hannah Hidalgo (Notre Dame), Flau'Jae Johnson (LSU) and Lauren Betts (UCLA). According to HerHoopStats, Ronsiek's averages against DI opponents rank in the 98th-percentile or better for minutes (37.2), points (19.2), FGs (6.7) and 3FGs (2.4).
  • "Ronnie 2K": Emma Ronsiek reached a significant career milestone in the Jan. 25 game at Wyoming, surpassing 2,000 points scored in her career. The fifth-year forward reached the mark in poetic fashion, using her signature mid-range turnaround move early in the third quarter. The Creighton transfer came to CSU with 1,622 career points and is currently averaging a career-high 18.2 points per game.
  • Make It Rain: Colorado State has been deadly from deep this season, converting 35.5% of their 3-point attempts which leads the MW and is top-40 nationally. The 3-pointer has been a large part of the Rams' offensive gameplan as they make an average of 8.3 shots from deep per game (2nd in MW). Emma Ronsiek, Hannah Ronsiek and Hannah Simental have been lighting it up from distance as they each shoot at least 36% from distance and are the top three on Colorado State's roster in regards to 3-pointers made.
  • 60's The Limit: Colorado State has been one of the top defensive teams in the Mountain West, holding opponents to just 36.6% shooting from the field (1st in MW, 27th nationally) and are holding teams to just 60.4 points per game (2nd in the MW). 60 has been the target number for the Rams defensively as 12 of their 15 wins this season have come when holding their opponents below that mark.

SCOUTING REPORT
  • The Air Force Falcons: Air Force got off to a hot start this season with a 10-2 record in nonconference play, but have had its momentum slowed with just one win in eight Mountain West games. It will be a clash of strengths as the Falcons rank 17th nationally in steals per game (12.0) while the Rams lead the country in turnovers per game (9.2). Despite the all-time series heavily favoring Colorado State, Air Force have had the upper hand of late winning five of the last seven meetings.
