The Rams close a milestone season with wins, leadership and rising momentum
Colorado State soccer closed the 2025 season with one of the most complete campaigns in program history. The Rams finished 10-4-5, recorded the fewest losses the program has ever had and reached double-digit wins for the third straight year. They were difficult to break down, steady in tight moments and unbeatable at home. CSU went 6-0-2 in Fort Collins and outscored visiting opponents 14-5, turning CSU Soccer Field into a clear advantage all fall.
A big part of that consistency came from the senior class. The group took what it learned from previous groups and simply passed on that knowledge. The seniors' influence strengthened the program's daily habits in training and performance. The vets set the tone.
"Each year, we aim to set the bar higher and higher. We want to win championships," coach Keeley Hagen said. "We are laying another brick in the foundation towards reaching that ultimate goal."
The season took off right away. CSU opened with six consecutive wins, allowed only two goals across that stretch and quickly broke into the national conversation. That strong start pushed the Rams for the first time into the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 at No. 25, a milestone which reflected how well the group was performing.
"Rankings only matter a few times in the season. One is before the NCAA tournament, and the other is at the end of the season," Hagen said. "I was really proud of the team and how we started and now we need to carry that all the way through."
Senior forward Olivia Fout led the attack with one of the strongest offensive seasons in the CSU record book. She finished with nine goals, three assists and 21 points, including five game-winners. Fout recorded a point in nine matches and started all 19, giving CSU the spark it needed in decisive moments. Fout earned her second straight All-Mountain West Second Team honor and the third All-Mountain West honor of her career.
Around her, the Rams relied on contributions from every line. Midfielder Michaela McGowan added six goals and five assists and remained one of the team's most reliable two-way players. McGowan was named to the 2025 All-Mountain West Newcomer Team. Junior midfielder Mia Casey added four goals and three assists and created consistent chances in conference play. Casey earned her second straight All-Mountain West First Team honor and the third All-Mountain West honor of her career. Forward Kaja Dionne added four goals and stretched opposing back lines with her pace and movement.
Opportunities were spread across a deep roster, with 19 different players seeing the pitch this season and playing meaningful roles from August through November.
Defensively, CSU was anchored by sophomore goalkeeper Gray Willson, who played every minute of the season and set the tone for one of the conference's most organized groups. Senior center back Kate Dunne led the back line with composure and clean distribution. Senior defender Jessica Shivers held strong positioning and clear decision-making under pressure, while senior Kacie Laurie stepped into multiple roles the group needed in tight games. Freshman defender Piper Carlson handled significant minutes and showed maturity well beyond her years, she was named to the 2025 All-Mountain West Newcomer Team. In the midfield, senior Mia Massey played more than 1,500 minutes and remained one of the team's key connectors in possession.
Together, CSU outshot opponents 243–197 and allowed only 17 goals across 19 matches.
"I am proud of this team's resilience. We welcomed 13 new players on the roster adding to our 13 already here," Hagen said. "That's 50% new players. The core of our team and leadership showed them the way, how we do things and our culture held strong. While we don't get any points for that, I know it contributed to our success."
With a Top 25 ranking, another double-digit win season, an unbeaten home record and a senior class which set the standard every day, Colorado State heads into the offseason with real momentum. This group raised the bar again and showed what the next phase of the program can become.
