Colorado State takes on Virginia Tech in the Battle 4 Atlantis Wednesday

PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas – Feast Week has arrived across college basketball as Colorado State has exchanged the pine trees of the Rocky Mountains for the palm trees and sand of the Bahamas this week to compete in the Battle 4 Atlantis.

The tournament tips off on Wednesday when the Rams face Virginia Tech at 3 p.m. MT. Joining CSU and Virginia Tech in the Bahamas are Saint Mary's, Wichita State, USF, Western Kentucky, VCU and Vanderbilt.

Opening Tip
- Colorado State dropped its first game of the season to Denver on Friday night 83-81.
- The loss snapped the Rams' 12 game home win streak dating back to the 2024-25 season.
- Kyle Jorgensen had a career-high 29 points in the game, with 27 of them coming in the second half.
- He was very efficient in the game going 7-of-11 from the field including 3-for-4 from behind the arc and adding in 12 free throws.
- Carey Booth picked up his third double-double in the past four games with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
- Booth and Jorgensen became the first Rams since David Roddy in 2021 to make 10-plus free throws on Friday night. Booth was a perfect 10-for-10 and Jorgensen 12-for-14.
- Colorado State shot 44 free throws against Denver, the first time with 40-plus free throw attempts since 2024 at Air Force.
- CSU leads the nation for free throw percentage at 85.6%.
- The Rams are averaging 25.0 made free throws per game, the second best mark in the Mountain West and fifth in the nation.
- CSU ranks 32nd in the nation and leads the Mountain West in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.81.
- The Rams 18.8 assists per game are the second best in the Mountain West and 39th in the nation.
- Colorado State is assisting on 71.8% of its made field goals on the year, the third best mark in the NCAA.
- Kyle Jorgensen's performance over the first week earned him Mountain West Player of the Week honors. The sophomore averaged 20.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steal in the first two games of the season.
- The Rams have shot the ball efficiently to open the year with an effective field goal percentage of 63.8% ranking fifth in the nation.
- CSU earned a second straight trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2024-25 and third in four years.
- Colorado State's 26 wins in 2024-25 tied for the second most in program history. They finished one win behind the record of 27 set by the 2014-15 team. 
- The Rams welcomed the best transfer portal class in the Mountain West in 2025 ranking 61st in the nation.
- Transfer Brandon Rechsteiner is facing his old team on Wednesday. He spent two years in Blacksburg.
- Colorado State has the longest active streak of having a player on the first team All-Mountain West list at seven years. Nico Carvacho (2019-20), David Roddy (2021-22), Isaiah Stevens (2023-24) and Nique Clifford (2025).
- Nique Clifford became the fourth player in program history to be picked in the first round of the NBA Draft in June. Clifford was the 24th pick overall by Oklahoma City with his rights traded to Sacramento.
- Clifford had one of the best seasons in program history his final year. He earned AP All-America honorable mention, was the MVP for the Mountain West Tournament and helped the program earn its first Mountain West title since 2003 by winning the Mountain West Tournament.

Scouting the Hokies
Virginia Tech enters Wednesday's game 5-0 on the year and well rested having not played for a week when the ball is tipped on Wednesday.

The Hokies have been playing well offensively to open the 2025-26 season averaging 92.2 points per game, including breaking the century mark in an over time win over Providence. Seven players are averaging double figures scoring for them.

Amani Hansberry and Neokils Avdalas lead the charge for VT averaging 16.0 and 15.2 points per game. Hansverry is adding in 8.3 rebounds while Avdalas is adding 5.8 assists.

Big man Tobi Lawal is grabbing 12.0 rebounds per game which ranks sixth in the nation.

What's Ahead
Colorado State will face either Saint Mary's or Wichita State on Thanksgiving Day at the Battle 4 Atlantis. With a win Wednesday, CSU will play at 1:30 p.m. MT, a loss will lead to a 6:00 p.m. MT tip.
