GAME NOTES
- Opposing offenses are in for a Long night when they play the Rams as Colorado State linebacker Owen Long is tied for the national lead in total tackles (131) and tackles per game (11.9). The numbers have garnered national recognition as Long was named an AP Midseason All-America Second Team selection on Oct. 15. A sophomore who began the season at just 19 years old, Long was elected the youngest captain ever on a Jay Norvell coached team prior to the start of the season.
- Colorado State's pass defense has a pair of big play makers in the secondary in Lemondre Joe and Jace Bellah. Joe has been elite on the outside as he is tied for second nationally with 13 pass breakups this season. For Bellah, he is tied for 10th with his four interceptions, and against Boise State became the second player in FBS this season to record 14 solo tackles in a game.
- You don't need to know ball to know that Colorado State and Rocky Beers are a match made in heaven. In addition to the name, the tight end transferred to Fort Collins for his final season of eligibility and has continued a strong tight end tradition for the Rams. The Littleton, Colo., native is tied for the team lead in receptions (29) and leads in receiving yards (346). Against Boise State, Beers hauled in his sixth receiving touchdown of the season which matches the the CSU single-season record for touchdowns by a tight end.
- Injuries have not been kind to Colorado State this season, leading to a big shake up in the depth chart. The Rams have started 24 different defensive players and 24 offensive players. When breaking down the defense, just four players have started every game, making the other seven positions average nearly three players each.
- Colorado State saw massive shakeup in the offensive line that allowed just 10 sacks and ranked No. 4 nationally in 2024. With the departures of staples Jacob Gardner, Drew Moss and Saveyon Henderson, in addition to the season-ending injury of Tanner Morley, CSU is down to just one returning starter in the front five. CSU has allowed 30.0 sacks already this season, which is among the bottom 25 in the country.
