Long, Hansen named first-team

FORT COLLINS  Being among the nation's leaders pays dividends when it comes to all-conference voting.

Colorado State linebacker Owen Long and punter Bryan Hansen led a contingent of six Rams who made the All-Mountain West team for 2025, which was announced Tuesday by the league. Tight end Rocky Beers and punt returner Javion Kinnard were named to the second team; defensive backs Jace Bellah and Lemondre Joe earned honorable mention recognition.

Long led the nation – and the Mountain West – with 151 tackles this season as the sophomore was the only player nationally to average more than 12 per contest, landing at 12.6. His final tally ranked seventh at Colorado State in a single-season, with the sophomore captain tying for the team lead in tackles for loss (5.0), registering 2.0 sacks and five pass breakups. He forced one fumble and recovered two.

Hansen, a junior, finished third nationally with an average of 47.89, which stands as the third-best single season in CSU history. He had a season long of 67 yards among his 57 attempts, with 23 covering 50 yards or longer, 13 landing inside the two with six fair catches forced.

Beers broke the single-season record for touchdown catches by a tight end this season, snaring his seventh in the final game. He led the team in receiving yards with 388, his 31 overall receptions ranking second. The team utilized him most down the stretch, with 20 of his receptions coming in the final four games, as did 264 of his yards. He had his best game against Boise State when he finished with seven catches for a career-best 94 yards.

Kinnard was a midseason revelation for the team, particularly as a punt returner, introducing himself in the Hawaii game with a 91-yard touchdown return, with all six of his returns coming in the final six games, averaging 23.0 yards per return.

The team's honorable mention selections both came in the secondary, where Bellah led the team in interceptions with four, the  most for a Ram since current coach Trent Matthews matched the number in 2013, adding a pair of forced fumbles to go along with his 58 tackles, ranking third on the team. Joe ranked fourth in tackles with 56, leading the team in sacks from his cornerback position with 3.5, the most ever in a season for a Ram corner. He finished tied for 10th nationally with 13 passes defended.
