Colorado State sees high-level competition to start spring season
GUADALAJARA, Mexico -Â The Colorado State women's golf team traveled south of the border to Guadalajara, Mexico for the two-day Collegiate Invitational that played host to 18 out of 63 ranked players and six out of 12 ranked programs.

This high-level competition sets the tone for Colorado State's spring season.

Over the two days, which consisted of a 27-hole, one and a half round of golf per day format, the Rams finished ninth overall with a team score of +47 (911) defeating Georgia, Iowa and Colorado.

Individually, the Rams were led by sophomore Kara Kaneshiro who kept her consistent season going in Mexico with a 14th place finish overall shooting a +3 (219) and ahead of eight ranked athletes. Kaneshiro finished the first round even before beginning her second round on day one and recording a +2 on the front nine to close out the day. Starting out well on day two, she played an even back nine within her second round and concluded the tournament, scoring a +1 in round three. She totaled seven birdies throughout the competition, all on unique holes throughout her three rounds.

The remaining four Rams finished in similar positions of the field with Pemika Arphamongkol finishing 39th scoring a +14 (230) overall. Lacey Uchida finishing 42nd just one stroke behind Arphamongkol at +15 (231). Ebba Thalen finishing 48th scoring a +17 (233) overall and Jacinda Lee finishing 57th at +22 (238).Â

All four of these Rams had their best rounds in round three with Aphamongkol notching a +4, Lee boasting a +3Â and Uchida and Thalen recording a +2, finishing the tournament strong for all four in a loaded competition field. Arphamongkol, Uchida and Thalen all record four birdies through their weekend with Lee totaling three.Â

Colorado State will continue its spring season at the Westbrook Invitational February 23 and 24 in Peoria, Arizona, hosted by Wisconsin.
