Rams get five-inning win on Ag Day

FORT COLLINS – The Colorado State softball team defeated the Montana Grizzlies Sunday afternoon on a rainy day at Ram Field. Scoring nine unanswered runs, the Rams take the victory in their Orange Out, Colorado A&M Aggies uniforms.
 
Colorado State – 9, Montana – 1
  • Despite the rainy and cold day in Fort Collins, Colorado State kept the bats warm Sunday afternoon, totaling 10 hits in five innings and two long balls from Carolina Buffaloe and Kyra Smith.
  • The Griz jumped on the board first, but it would be their only run against Colorado State starting pitcher Giselle Bentley who threw all five innings and totaled four strikeouts only allowing two hits.
  • Smith and Buffaloe were both 2-3 on the game, leading the Rams in slugging as well with Smith's three RBI of the game and Buffaloe also adding a triple in the third inning.
  • Brooke Bohlender also added two hits for the Rams, both RBI-doubles, both scoring Lauren Stucky who scored three of the Rams nine runs.
  • Stucky, Kaylynn English, Abby Edwards and Autumn Rutherford all contributed hits to the Colorado State offense as well.
  • The Rams were perfect on the day defensively with Bentley drawing five groundouts and four flyouts on the diamond.

Up Next: Colorado State will travel to Boise State for a mid-week double header with the Broncos Wednesday, April 2 before returning home to host San Diego State in a two-game series April 5-6.
