Ram quarterback one to watch for top offensive player with ties to state of Texas
FORT COLLINS – Colorado State's Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi was named to the preseason watch list for the 2025 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, the Tyler Chamber and SPORTyler announced on Wednesday.
Â
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community, and tenacity; specifically, tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity in pursuit of reaching goals.
Â
In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or four-year D1 Texas college. A native of Aledo, Texas, Fowler-Nicolosi threw for 2,051 yards with 24 touchdowns as a senior at Aledo High School.
Â
Fowler-Nicolosi is set to enter year three as the starting quarterback for Colorado State, having assumed the position early in the 2023 season. In 25 games across his redshirt freshman and sophomore campaigns, Fowler-Nicolosi has racked up 6,256 passing yards while completing 61.4% of his attempts, and has thrown for 36 touchdowns.
Â
In 2024, the quarterback threw for 2,796 yards and recorded 300-or-more yards through the air across the final three games of the season. Fowler-Nicolosi was responsible for 19 total touchdowns, throwing for 14 while adding four on the ground and one receiving.
Â
The redshirt junior has already established himself among the top passers in Colorado State history, entering the season ranked fifth in career completions (539), sixth in career passing yards (6,450) and ninth in career passing touchdowns (37).
Â
Fowler-Nicolosi and the Rams begin the season on Aug. 30 with a road trip to Seattle to take on the Washington Huskies. Kickoff is set for 9:00 p.m. MT on the Big Ten Network.
