Youngsters pick up wins in singles play
AIR FORCE ACADEMY – The quest for match experience continued on the second day of the second tournament of the season for Colorado State women's tennis, with some of the youngest members gaining some confidence in singles play.

Freshmen Stella Simpson-Morgan, Leyla Tozin and Dylan Voeks won matches at the Bedford Cup, as did sophomore Diana Lizarazo, who joined the team last spring. Â Simpson-Morgan and Voeks both battled to win tough three-set decisions, while the other two Rams took the more direct route to advancing in the bracket at the Air Force Academy. Hanna Haber also advanced when her opponent withdrew with an injury.

The day opened with doubles, and the Rams' top-seeded tandem of Sorcha Caves and Simpson-Morgan fell in the semifinals. In consolation play, Lizarazo and Annika Planinsek paired up for a win.

Sunday's play will pick up at 9:45 a.m., with play in both doubles and singles.
