Colorado State heads to California Wednesday

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State men's basketball returns to the road to end the month of January in two very different locations. The first stop comes on Wednesday night when CSU takes on league-leading San Diego State at 8:30 p.m. MT. They then head to Laramie, Wyoming on Saturday to face the rival Cowboys.

Opening Tip
- Twenty-one turnovers was costly for Colorado State as they fell to Utah State at home 65-61 Friday night.
- The 21 turnovers are the most by a CSU teams since 2019. The turnovers led to 24 points for the Aggies.
- Kyle Jorgensen was on fire in the first half against Utah State and finished the game with 24 points. He made a career-high five 3-pointers. He also had five rebounds, three steals and two assists.
- Josh Pascarelli made a trio of 3-pointers against USU leading to 13 points. He added in five rebounds and three assists.
- Rashaan Mbemba was the final Ram in double figures scoring with 10 points, five rebounds and a career-high-tying four assists.
- After not making 10-plus 3s in the first six conference games, CSU has reached that mark in the past three games averaging 11.3 over the past three games, shooting 48.6% behind the arc.
- CSU ranks 114th in the nation and third in the Mountain West in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.33.
- The Rams 16.0 assists per game are the third best in the Mountain West and 85th in the nation.
- Colorado State is assisting on 61.0% of its made field goals on the year, the 24th best mark in the nation.
- The Rams are one of nine programs in the nation shooting over 50.0% overall, 35.0% from behind the arc and 75.0% from the free throw line. They rank 19th, second and 37th in the respective categories.
- CSU's effective field goal percentage of 60.3% is fifth in the nation and leads the Mountain West.
- Colorado State has a pair of Mountain West Players of the Week so far this season in Kyle Jorgensen and Josh Pascarelli.
- Jorgensen's performance over the first week earned him Mountain West Player of the Week honors. The sophomore averaged 20.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steal in the first two games of the season.
- Pascarelli earned his honor after his performance against Colorado (12/6/25). The junior scored 26 points connecting on eight 3-pointers for the second straight game.
- CSU earned a second straight trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2024-25 and third in four years.
- Colorado State's 26 wins in 2024-25 tied for the second most in program history. They finished one win behind the record of 27 set by the 2014-15 team. 
- The Rams welcomed the best transfer portal class in the Mountain West in 2025 ranking 61st in the nation.
- Colorado State has the longest active streak of having a player on the first team All-Mountain West list at seven years. Nico Carvacho (2019-20), David Roddy (2021-22), Isaiah Stevens (2023-24) and Nique Clifford (2025).
- Nique Clifford became the fourth player in program history to be picked in the first round of the NBA Draft in June. Clifford was the 24th pick overall by Oklahoma City with his rights traded to Sacramento.
- Clifford had one of the best seasons in program history his final year. He earned AP All-America honorable mention, was the MVP for the Mountain West Tournament and helped the program earn its first Mountain West title since 2003 by winning the Mountain West Tournament.

Scouting the Aztecs
A challenging non-conference schedule that saw San Diego State drop four games has turned into a strong start to Mountain West play. SDSU sits atop the Mountain West standings with an 8-1 record and the lone loss came by a point at Grand Canyon.

The trio of Reese Dixon-Waters, Miles Byrd and BJ Davis lead the Aztecs scoring around 11.0 points per game each.

Typically known for their defense, SDSU is averaging 81.3 points per game this season and shooting 48.1%. The Aztecs continue to be strong defensively holding opponents to 40.0% shooting and turning opponents over 14.9 times per game.

Colorado State stays on the road on Saturday for part one of Border War with Wyoming. The Rams and Cowboys will tip off at 7:30 p.m.
