Colorado State claims its fourth MW award on the season

FORT COLLINS – Colorado State track and field received its first Mountain West Women's Field Athlete of the Week award of indoor season by way of shot-put star Makayla Long.

The Baylor transfer is in her second season with CSU, now leading the conference in the shot put with a mark of 16.84-meters/55-feet-2 set last Friday at the Colorado Classic (Feb. 6).

Long ranks sixth in school history in indoor shot put, an event which Colorado State has earned four appearances at NCAA nationals in the past two years. The Arizona native ranks 16th nationally, just inside the qualifying range for nationals.

Last year, Long claimed two spots on the podium at the outdoor conference championships, finishing second place in the shot put and third in the discus.
