Former CSU safety becomes second head coach in National Football League

Former Colorado State defensive back Klint Kubiak was named the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday. It will be his first stint as a head coach following 12 seasons as an NFL assistant.

Kubiak was Seattle's offensive coordinator this year as the Seahawks posted a 29-13 victory over New England in Super Bowl LX. It was his second year in the role, serving in the same position with New Orleans in 2024.

He began his climb in the NFL in Denver as an offensive assistant/quarterbacks coach from 2016-18. He would go on to spend three years with Minnesota, the final year spent as the Vikings offensive coordinator. He then returned to Denver for a season before moving on to San Francisco for one year.

He was a four-year letterwinner at Colorado State from 2005-09 as a defensive back and was named a team captain as a senior, earning an invite to the East-West Shrine Game.

He is the oldest son of former NFL quarterback and coach Gary Kubiak, who won Super Bowl 50 as Denver's head coach. He played at CSU with his brother Klay, who is also a coach in the NFL. His younger brother, Klein, works as a scout with the Dallas Cowboys.
