Colorado State enters week three of conference play

FORT COLLINS – The Colorado State softball team will compete in its third week of conference play against Boise State on March 27 - March 29. The Rams come off their first conference series win against New Mexico this past weekend.

What You Need to Know     
  • Friday's game against the Broncos is Women and Sports day and Most Valuable Professor Night for the Rams. The players will invite the professors that have made an impact on their college experience to celebrate them at Ram Field.  
  • Saturday's game is youth day at Ram Field to support and celebrate local youth organizations. 
  • Sunday's game is the annual Pink Out and Colors for a Cause game, where fans are encouraged to wear pink.  
  • All three games throughout the weekend will be free to attend. Games will be hosted at Ram Field on Colorado State's campus.   
  • All three games will be streamed and can be accessed on the Mountain West Network.     
  
Game Notes      
  • The Rams went 2-2 during the weekend, with two wins against New Mexico and earning their first conference series win of the season.  
  • Abby Edwards was named the Colorado State Student Athlete of the Week after leading the Rams offensively, finishing the weekend with a .727 batting average after producing eight hits, two home runs, nine RBI and 17 total bases for a slugging percentage of .1545. Edwards also ended the weekend with a perfect fielding percentage with four putouts and six assists.  
  • Kyra Smith notched her fourth home run of the season in Thursday's game against Saint Mary's, keeping the Rams in close contention throughout the entire game. Smith contributed seven hits, three of which were extra bases, seven RBI and two runs for a batting average of .438 on the weekend.  
  • The Rams ended the weekend with 38 total hits and 30 runs through four games. As a tea, CSU finished the weekend with a .527 batting average and .460 slugging percentage. Defensively, the Rams notched 84 putouts and 46 assists as a whole.   
  • Reagan Wick notched a win during the weekend, advancing her record to 10-7, with a weekend ERA of 1.11. Throughout the weekend Wick added four strikeouts in 12.2 innings pitched, contributing heavily to keeping the Aztecs to four total runs on the weekend. 
  • Giselle Bentley also notched a win during the weekend against New Mexico, advancing her record to 3-6 after adding two strikeouts through 11 innings pitched.
