Taylor Hollander was hired as an assistant tennis coach on Aug. 31, 2021.
Hollander helped head coach Mai-Ly Tran produce the most successful season in program history in 2021-22, as the Rams tied a record with 15 dual wins and established a record for conference play with an 8-2 mark. The eight Mountain West victories matched what the team had combined to do since 2013. The squad reached the Mountain West semifinals for just the second time, the first coming in 2001. Two players earned All-Mountain West singles honors, as did one doubles team. In addition, the team had two doubles squads qualify for the ITA Fall Nationals, a program first.

Hollander arrived from Sacramento State and brings with her six years of tennis coaching experience. Hollander, who hails from Coral Springs, Fla., spent the past four seasons with the Hornets, helping in all aspects of the program’s development. She started her coaching path in 2015-16 as an assistant coach at Queens University before moving to North Carolina at Greensboro the following season.

Along her path, Hollander has helped programs reach postseason play, including leading both the Queens’ men’s and women’s programs to NCAA appearances.

At UNCG, she recruited Brianna Gomez, who became the program’s top player over the next four seasons. While at Queens, she stood in as the interim head coached during the fall of the 2015-16 season. Both the men’s and women’s team’s won the South Atlantic Conference championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. It was the first appearance for the men’s team in six seasons, while it was the first in history for the women.Â

Hollander is a 2015 graduate of North Florida, earning a degree in child psychology. She played four seasons collegiately, starting at SUNY Bingham, where she posted an upset of the standing Ivy League Player of the Year as a freshman. She played her final three years at North Florida, earning All-Atlantic Sun honors four times in her career as a No. 1 singles and doubles player; second team in doubles all three seasons and second team in singles as a junior. A team captain in 2015, she was a three-time Scholar Athlete who won 47 singles matches in her career, making two NCAA Tournament appearances in 2013 and 2015 after the Ospreys won the conference tournament those seasons.

In her final college year, she became a two-sport athlete, throwing the javelin at North Florida, placing in the Atlantic Sun Conference track and field championships.
