  • Title:
    Tight Ends
Grant Chesnut came to Colorado State in February 2025 after spending the past season at Western Kentucky coaching tight ends. Before arriving on The Hill, Chesnut was the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Navy for one season.

Prior to that, he held the same role at Kennesaw State starting in 2014. The Owls inaugural season for football came in 2015 and Chesnut wasted no time helping claim Big South Championships in 2017, 2018 and 2021, including posting a 5-4 mark in the FCS playoffs during his time in Black and Gold.

Chesnut started his collegiate coaching career at Kennesaw State in 2014 with the inaugural season in 2015. The Owls’ offense scored 56 points at East Tennessee State in the inaugural games before going on to record the fifth-highest single-season rushing yards (3,398) in Big South history, rushing for five 300-yard games on the year. Kennesaw State continued to thrive under Chesnut’s play calling, ranking in the top three in the FCS in rushing offense from 2017-21, including leading the nation in 2017 and 2019. KSU set records in 2019 for rushing touchdowns in a season with 58 as it tallied its third-straight 11-win season and made a third-straight appearance in the FCS Playoffs.

During his junior and senior seasons as an offensive tackle at Georgia Southern, Chesnut was part of Eagle teams that won the Southern Conference Championship and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA playoffs in 1997 and advanced to the 1998 NCAA National Championship game, finishing the year with a 14-1 record.
