Fort Collins, Colo. - The Colorado State softball team earned wins number 30 and 31 after sweeping a double header against the New Mexico Lobos at Ram Field on Wednesday afternoon. The Rams defeated the Lobos 4-0 and 8-2 respectively in the two games to complete the season sweep.

In game one, the Rams rallied behind a complete game shutout performance from junior pitcher Megan Masser. Masser, who pitched a perfect game into the sixth inning, allowed only two hits and walked one batter, all coming in the sixth, while fanning seven Lobos. Masser?s performance moved her record to 15-5 on the season.

Sophomore Steph Roberts, who was hitting .352 coming into the game, continued her tear for the Rams in game one. Roberts hit a two-run shot, her sixth homerun in as many games, to score freshman Katie Dean who led of the inning with a double to left-center.

After an hour delay, due to rain and gumball-sized hail, the Rams continued where they left off in game two. Junior Ricki Walker, who came in leading the team with a .359 batting average, hit a two-run homerun with two outs in the first inning to score Roberts. Sophomore Brittany Burtner added another with a solo shot in the second inning.

That would prove to be the winning run for the Rams behind the pitching of freshman Genevieve Kelly. Kelly pitched five innings, allowing only two runs - back-to-back homeruns in the fourth inning- on four hits, and striking out four New Mexico batters. Masser came on in relief of Kelly pitching two innings and only giving up one hit while adding another strikeout to her total. With the win, Kelly?s record now stands at 9-3 on the season.

The Rams would go on to add five more runs in the third and fourth innings, including a double by Walker in the fourth inning to score senior Jen Mahoney and Roberts. Walker finished the game 3-for-3 from the plate with four RBIs and crossing the plate twice.

Colorado State?s record now stands at 31-12 (10-6 MWC) while New Mexico dropped to 21-34-1 (12-4 MWC). It is the first 30-win season for the Rams since the team finished 32-21 in 1998, and only the fourth time since the program began in 1976.

Up next Colorado State will finish the season with double headers against conference opponents San Diego State on Friday at 1:00 p.m. and UNLV on Sunday beginning at 12:00 noon.
