Volleyball Ranked 29th

The Colorado State volleyball team is ranked 29th in the USA Today/AVCA Division I Coaches Poll, released today by the AVCA. The Rams received 121 points and are the top-ranked Mountain West Conference team in the poll.

Southern California, the defending national champion, is ranked first with 64 of the 65 first-place votes and 1,624 points. Hawai?i received the other first-place nod and is second with 1,518 points. Florida is third, while the season-opener for the Rams, Stanford is ranked fourth. Pepperdine rounds out the top five.

Other 2003 opponents for Colorado State include #6 Minnesota, #15 Kansas State, #16 Long Beach State and #24 California. Mountain West opponents Utah and BYU are also receiving votes.

Colorado State opens its season on Friday, Aug. 29 against #4 Stanford in the UPHI Classic in Moby Arena. The Rams and Cardinal square off at 7:00 p.m. after the tournament opens at 5:00 p.m. with Bradley and Florida A&M.
