Hilbert Pleased With First Practice

The Colorado State volleyball team kicked off practices this afternoon in Moby Arena. Head Coach Tom Hilbert was pleased with the three-hour practice.

?It was good,? said Hilbert. ?They did testing and conditioning this morning so they were a little bit tired, but overall it was a good practice. The testing was very good. We had great jump testing with a lot of personal bests recorded.?

The Rams concentrated on defensive drills in the first practice, not taking any full arm swings until the last five minutes of the day.

?We have a really good ball handling group,? Hilbert continued. ?Even the walk-ons are more seasoned and better ball handlers than we had last year. I think the returners all look pretty good.?

On Sunday, the Rams will practice in the afternoon only, doing some individual work. The first two-a-day practice for Colorado State will happen on Monday when the Rams go from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and then again from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The first match for Colorado State will take place at 7:00 p.m. on August 29 in Moby Arena against Stanford ? which played for the national title a year ago. At 5:00 p.m., Bradley and Florida A&M will kick-off the annual UPHI Classic at CSU.
