Rams Fall to Liberty in One-Run Tilt in Orlando

Colorado State allowed a game-winning RBI in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Rams suffered their second loss of the Rebel Spring Games, falling to Liberty 3-2 on Monday night.
CSU reached the scoreboard first in the second inning when pitcher Jessica Strickland hit a solo home run to give the Rams an early 1-0 lead. The Flames answered back in the bottom of the inning when two runs crossed the plate to give Liberty the 2-1 advantage.
The Rams evened the game again in the third when catcher Kerry Farrell hit an RBI double to right center scoring Stephanie Roberts to bring the score to two-all.
The game remained knotted until the bottom of the sixth when Liberty?s Amanda Maska drove in the game-winning run on a single to left field with two outs.
Strickland led the Rams at the plate going 3-for-3 on the day with a home run while also pitching six innings in the loss. The setback moved her season record to 6-3 on the year.
Sarah Swor pitched all seven innings for the Flames in the win allowing seven hits and striking out seven.
The Rams? second scheduled game of the day was cancelled due to lighting. CSU (16-9) plays again on Tuesday against Fordham and Wisconsin-Green Bay.
