Rams Finish 4-0 At Triple Crown Classic

Fort Collins, The Colorado State softball team continued its fall schedule last weekend, as the Rams posted a 4-0 record in the Triple Crown Fall Classic.
The team began the weekend with three straight shutouts, including a 7-0 win over Northern Colorado followed by 2-0 and 6-0 wins over the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs and Montana State-Billings, respectively. The Rams then closed out the weekend with their second win over UCCS, a 3-2 decision.
Junior JayCee Wood picked up three wins over the weekend, once against UNC and twice against UCCS, while sophomore Jessica Strickland picked up the victory over Montana State-Billings. Junior Genevieve Kelly pitched in relief against UNC and earned a save against UCCS.
?I thought that all three of our pitchers pitched very well this weekend,? said Head Coach Mary Yori.
Freshmen Lauren Cusick and Julia Kloppe provided an offensive spark for the Rams, hitting the only home runs of the weekend.
Coach Yori added, ?Overall, We got good contributions from everyone in our lineup.?
Next up, the Rams will play Northern Colorado and Western Nebraska Community College as part of the Triple Crown Games on Oct. 3, beginning at 10 a.m. at Triple Crown Field.
