Strickland Named MWC Player Of The Week

Colorado State sophomore P Jessica Strickland was named Mountain West Conference Player of the Week Tuesday afternoon, after leading the Rams to a 3-2 performance in the National Invitational Softball Tournament last weekend and a doubleheader sweep of Rhode Island on Monday morning.

Strickland hit .500 (12-for-24) in the Rams? seven games, starting in each, and adding two home runs, three doubles, eight RBI and six runs scored to her season statistics. She recorded two four-hit games against Santa Clara (4-for-4, three RBI, one run) and Rhode Island (4-for-4, two RBI, four runs). Strickland also extended her streak of consecutive at bats without a strikeout to 60, dating back to the first weekend of the season against Cal Poly.

In the circle, Strickland posted a 2-1 record with three complete-game performances and an ERA of 2.45. She also struck out a career-high nine batters in the Rams? 8-2 win over Santa Clara in the NIST.

Strickland and the Rams will be back in action on Wednesday when they take on the Princeton in San Jose, Calif. The first game of the doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. PT.
