Volleyball Picked Third In Mountain West Preseason Poll

The 22nd ranked Colorado State volleyball team has been chosen to finish third in the Mountain West Conference race this season by the league's head coaches and selected media. The Rams received three of 13 first-place votes and a total of 96 points, while BYU grabbed seven first-place nods and 108 points to lead the poll. Utah finished a close second with the remaining three first-place votes and 106 points.
Also released by the Mountain West Conference today was the volleyball preseason all-conference team. Colorado State senior outside hitter Tess Rogers was chosen as the conference co-player of the year along with BYU middle blocker Lindsy Hartsock. CSU senior Dre Downs was also selected to the seven player team. Rounding out the team are outside hitter Shelly Sommerfeldt from Utah, BYU outside hitter Erica Lott, preseason setter of the year Lauren Richards from BYU and preseason libero of the year Connie Dangerfield from Utah.
Colorado State begins its season on Sept. 2 at the Pepperdine Classic against Cal State Northridge. The home season begins with The Hilton Classic on Sept. 9 against UC Irvine.
