Rams Drop Two at Pacific

After having yesterday's double header against San Jose State canceled due to rain, the Colorado State softball team (15-9) dropped two games against the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif. on Wednesday. The Tigers edged out he Rams 3-2 in the final inning of game one, but the Rams fell 10-0 in game two.
In the first contest, the Rams fell behind 2-0 as the Tigers posted runs in the first and third innings. The Rams tied the game in the fifth inning. Sophomore Lauren Cusick doubled in junior Jessica Strickland and senior Tara Harbert with two outs to knot the game at two.
Pacific sealed the victory with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning with a two-out single up the middle to get the 3-2 victory.
Freshman Kim Klabough falls to 8-2 on the season, pitching the complete-game for the Rams. Klabough allowed three runs on eight hits and struck out six in 6.2 innings.
In the nightcap, the Rams offense was held to just four hits in five innings, while the Tigers posted 10 runs on 10 hits in just four innings, scoring three runs in the first inning and seven runs in the third.
Sophomore Julia Kloppe recorded half of the Rams' four hits, with a 2-for-2 performance from the plate.
Strickland fell to 6-7 on the season with the loss. She allowed 10 runs on nine hits in 2.1 innings. Klabough pitched 1.2 innings in relief and allowed just one hit while striking out one.
The Rams will now travel to Sacramento to take part in the Capital Classic Softball Tournament. The Rams begin with games against Cal-Berkeley and Illinois on Friday. Colorado State then plays Columbia and Jacksonville on Saturday before closing out the tournament against Southern Utah on Sunday.
