Softball Team Picked Fifth in MWC Preseason Poll

The Colorado State softball team was chosen fifth in a preseason poll released by the Mountain West Conference today. This season the Rams are led by senior Jessica Strickland, who earned two All American nods last season, and junior Lauren Cusick, who was named to the 2006 NFCA All-Region Team.
Head coach Mary Yori is looking forward to the spring season and watching her young team grow. "I am very optimistic about this year's team. I believe we have the talent and potential to be an explosive offensive team as well as a solid defensive unit with strong pitching. I think we will be a fun team to watch and pick up a lot of victories along the way."
San Diego State garnered five first place votes, giving them a total of 25 points, to lead the conference. UNLV, BYU and Utah follow close behind. San Diego State and BYU also received votes in the NFCA Top 25 preseason poll.
Colorado State opens the season in Las Cruces, N.M. on Feb. 8 against New Mexico State followed by the Hotel Encanto de Las Cruces Invitational.
