HONOLULU, Hawaii - The Colorado State softball team snapped a seven-game skid on Thursday evening, picking up a 4-3 victory over Saint Mary's College in eight innings at the Bank of Hawaii Invitational hosted by the University of Hawaii.
Senior Lauren Cusick homered in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game at three, and recorded the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the eighth to push the Rams past the Gaels.
Cusick (3-for-4) and freshman Caitlan Stem (2-for-3) combined for five of the Rams' seven hits and half of the team's runs to lead the CSU to the come-from-behind victory.
Sophomore Rebecca Penland earned the start in the circle, allowing two earned runs and striking out nine batters while giving up just four hits in 6.0 innings of work.
Freshman Eranne Daugharthy recorded one out in relief and gave up two hits, while junior hurler Kim Klabough improved to 5-6 on the season giving up no hits in the final 1.2 innings to seal the Rams' victory.
