Final Stats

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - After finishing 1-1 against Utah State on Saturday, the Rams' offense exploded on Sunday with 11 runs on 10 hits to beat the Aggies, 11-3 in five innings. With the win, the Rams improved to 13-3 on the season.

Colorado State got on the board in the first inning when sophomore Ashley Munoz hit her second home run in as many days, this time a two-run shot to right center to give the Rams an early 2-0 lead.

Utah State cut the lead in half in the top of the second when Aubrie Stroman doubled to score Kayla Dunn from second.

Colorado State answered with a run in the bottom of the second when Munoz flied out to right to score sophomore Robyn Mask from third, and give the Rams a 3-1 lead.

After giving up another run to the Aggies in the top of the third, the Ram offense recorded four runs, three of them with two outs, in the bottom half of the inning.  Sophomore Kayla Kreutzman flied out to left field to score sophomore Allison Majam, who doubled to lead off the inning.  Sophomore Sarah Sullivan smacked  a two-run home run to center field, her first home run of the season, and give the Rams a 6-2 lead. Freshman Caitlan Stem added the fourth run of the inning when she singled to left center to score senior Lauren Cusick from second.

Colorado State shut the door in the bottom of the fourth with a two-out rally and four runs to take an 11-2 lead. Kretuzman and Cusick both doubled in the inning and Stem singled to record the final RBI of the inning for the Rams.

Utah State added one run in the top of the fifth, but senior pitcher Cayte Billman secured the win in relief.  

Majam and Stem were both 2-for-3 on the day. Stem had two RBI and Majam scored one run.

Junior Kim Klabough started the game for the Rams in the circle and pitched three innings. She picked up the win to give her a 4-2 record on the season.

The Rams travel to Sacramento, Calif., this weekend for the Capital Classic. The Rams play two games on Friday, beginning with a game against Nevada at 1:30 p.m. MT, followed by a game with No. 11/9 Oklahoma at 4 p.m.  Colorado State will also face Princeton, host Sacramento State, Ohio State and Cal Poly throughout the weekend.  

The next game at Ram Field will be a doubleheader April 9, at 3 p.m. against Northern Colorado.
