Rams sweep second day of tournament

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Colorado State softball team swept the second day of the University of San Diego Tournament, defeating San Diego, 9-1 in five innings, and Boise State, 3-2.
Sophomore Caitlan Stem finished the first game 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. She singled in the fifth inning to plate junior Kayla Kreutzman, who was hit by a pitch earlier in the inning.
The Rams held a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning, but put six hits together in the inning to beat the Toreros 9-1.
Senior Kim Klabough started in the circle and threw all five innings for Colorado State, allowing only four hits and striking out one batter.
The Rams held a 2-0 advantage in the second game, but Boise State answered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game.
Freshmen Jenna Krogh and Christine Thomsen led off the fifth inning with singles and Krogh scored the go-ahead run on a single by Allison Majam.
Freshman Kelli Eubanks started in the circle for Colorado State. She allowed only one hit in the last two innings to give the Rams a 3-2 victory and record her second victory in as many days.
Colorado State concludes tournament play on Sunday in a rematch against Long Beach State. The Rams defeated the 49ers 1-0 in their first game of the tournament on Friday.
