Rams fall to Aztecs, 5-0

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Colorado State softball team (17-19, 1-2 MWC) dropped a 5-0 decision to San Diego State (26-13, 3-0 MWC) on Friday at the SDSU Softball Stadium.
Monica Alnes recorded three RBI in the game for the Aztecs on two singles. She gave SDSU a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when she singled to plate two Aztec batters and added another RBI in the bottom of the sixth inning to give SDSU a 4-0 lead.
The Aztecs added another run in the bottom of the sixth to take a 5-0 advantage going into the top of the seventh inning. Colorado State threatened in the top of the seventh with two runners on and one out, but SDSU was able to secure the victory and remain undefeated in MWC action.
Freshman Jenna Krogh led the Rams at the plate, finishing 2-for-3 with two infield singles.
Freshman Kelli Eubanks started in the circle for Colorado State, throwing five innings before being relieved by junior Rebecca Penland, who finished the final inning.
The Rams travel to Las Vegas, Nev., for a two-game series with UNLV Saturday and Sunday. First pitch Saturday is set for 7 p.m. MDT and first pitch Sunday is slated for 1 p.m. MDT.
