Hilbert Blog: Training completed, on to Croatia

We have completed our training segment in Zuchwil, Switzerland and are now headed to Pula, Croatia for the 12 team Global Challenge. Four days in the sports center in Zuchwil allowed us to gel as a team and train together. We made significant improvements in just a few days. We were able to beat the Swiss National Team last night in five sets; much better than the night before when we lost 0-3. I was pleased with our team¹s competitive spirit last night. They have obviously bonded together and are playing hard.
Tonight are the Opening Ceremonies in Pula and tomorrow we begin competing. Each of the six US teams will play all six European teams in the next two days. This will seed the teams into bracket play which will conclude on Wednesday and Thursday.
The 12 players I am coaching are excited for this opportunity. They will get to meet and compete against players from all over Europe. This could be a once in a lifetime opportunity for many of them.
